PhD, Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian
Cindy completed her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Purdue University and completed a Masters in Health Promotion and an Interdisciplinary Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. She completed her RD Internship at Northern Colorado University and then completed her rotations at Mercy Hospitals in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area.
Cindy is passionate about health, disease prevention and agriculture. She worked at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in the Cardiovascular Exercise Lab for 8 years. In 2001, Cindy created Nutrition Access, a private practice and corporate healthcare consultant.
Within the past fifteen years Cindy has focused her practice on Sports Nutrition and Integrative Medicine.

Cindy has also been very active in the American Dietetic Association. She served as newsletter editor for the Sport, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition practice group, a 5,000 member specialty group of the American Dietetic Association. She has served as president of the local Greater Cincinnati Dietetic Association and is also active in the Ohio Dietetic Association.
An excellent presenter, Cindy is a National speaker for Sports Nutrition conferences and a NCAA authorized speaker. She has also done “Health Talk” radio show for 13 weeks on local Cincinnati airwaves WLW 1520. As a UC Fitness and Nutrition Expert Cindy has also done media spots for TV can be since 2017-2018.
Cindy’s personal commitment to fitness is exemplified by her accomplishments: NCAA All-American while at Purdue, competitive runner, completed several marathons and triathlons, and serving as a track and cross country coach for Seven Hills School. Since 1998 to present her family business, Vista Grand Ranch Buffalo farm-distribute and markets buffalo meat. The most interesting part of this agriculture experience is as a 4 H advisor for a Clermont County club and being the President of Clermont County Farm Bureau 2016-2018.

BACKGROUND
How did you get into your field?
Long path… interested in exercise physiology, Undergrad degree from Purdue in Exercise Science… pursued a graduate degree at Washington state university in exercise physiology looking at muscle fiber and mitochondria. Come back to Cincinnati to start program at UC in Exercise Physiology. Started working at CHMC in clinical exercise physiology in cardiology department. Loved it.. Love working with chronic disease populations. Loved the science involved in getting kids better. Started thinking about programs and working in a more leadership situation within health care facilities… needed a PhD to move in that direction. Completed that in 1999 in Nutrition and Epidemiology and completed clinical RD requirements same year. Started own PP in Nutrition Access LL within a year.
What is your training background?
Started practicing after PhD/RD training. So about 20-25 years. I have taught sports nutrition or nutrition for nurses or allied health professionals as an adjunct for various universities such as: NKU, UC, UC Clermont, Wright State and Xavier.
Who influenced your career path (who have you enjoyed learning from, mentor, etc.)?your career path (who have you enjoyed learning from, mentor, )?
Researches and other involved in advancing basic science to bring to the clinical practice for allied health professionals.
What makes you love your field?
The ability to support clients “aha moment” when they really do notice they feel better because they are doing things to create being better.
INTERESTS/SPECIALITIES
What kind of clients do you love working with?
Anyone who is struggling with trying to understand why they feel bad, why their gut isn’t working, why they can’t seem to lose weight when they are trying and things are not working.
What’s your mission?
Mission in life: “Make sure when the dirt starts flying that I made a difference in people’s lives.” We are only on this planet for a very short period of time… and how people remember us is determined by how we made a difference in their lives..
HOBBIES
What brings you joy?
Digging in the dirt. Hiking, being physically exhausted at the end of day from work on the farm or doing good things. Anything agriculture or horticulture related.
What do you do with your spare time?
Plant things, grow things.
