What makes Pilates at WAVE different?

We All Have Unique Needs…

We know that whether or not you tell us, we all suffer.

  • Whether it be achy joints or a torn labrum, chronic low back pain or recent knee replacement, movement is essential.
  • Albeit exciting, having a child can do a number on your body and reconnecting with your core is paramount.
  • Or maybe you’re the person who is always stiff and tight everywhere. This is a common complaint but doesn’t have to keep us from moving. These are examples of what our clients normally report. The point is, most problems can be addressed through movement.
What is Pilates? How does someone benefit from Pilates?

In his book, Return to Life through Contrology, Joseph Pilates (creator of the technique) presents his method as the art of controlled movements. He envisioned it serving as a therapeutic workout that didn’t feel like therapy.

When practiced with consistency, Pilates improves:

  • Flexibility
  • Builds Strength
  • Develops Control
  • Improves Endurance

It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance.

Who can do Pilates?

Everyone and anyone is capable of doing pilates. Male, female, young, old, athlete or not-so-athletic. The beauty of the Pilates system is that is does not alienate any particular person.

With that said, Pilates exercises can be modified for any ability.

Utilizing the instructor and practitioner’s specific goals and/or limitations, pilates programs are designed around each individual’s needs. Likewise, intensity can be increased over time as the body adapts itself to the exercises.

The overarching goal with Clinical Pilates, as with all movement interventions, is to continuously challenge our bodies to perform better.

The Pilates Studio at the WAVE has classes to help restore your core, improve your balance, increase your strength and optimize your breathing so that you can feel and move well!

Our WAVE Pilates at the Anchor Studio is perfect for beginners or the more seasoned pilates goer.

WAVE’s Certified Pilates Instructors have a niche practice of working alongside Physical Therapists to individualize programs to meet your specific needs.

The WAVE Pilates Studio at Anchor Wellness

Our instructors have an average of 10 years experience teaching individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds.

Semi-Private Group Reformer Pilates Classes

Our semi-private Pilates Reformer class offers personalized training in a group environment. A nice transition from private classes, our semi-private classes allow individuals to progress towards more independence without fear of being ignored.

  • *Packages are nonrefundable and expire within a year of the date they are purchased.
  • *Cancellations less than 2 hours in advance are subject to full charge.

Private Pilates Packages

Learning how to use the Pilates Reformer machine can be overwhelming. While there are many different philosophies that exist, the WAVE approach is one in which we believe that movement can be optimized. With that in mind, our main goal is to help each client avoid injury and to improve their capacity.

Our instructors work alongside Physical Therapists as needed in order to determine the best approach, objectives and contraindications.

With each Private Pilates Session, the session is completely tailored to your needs.
