BACKGROUND

How did you get into your field?
As long as I can remember I have always wanted to work in healthcare. I loved the idea of helping people be their best self. When I entered High School one of the women at my dance studio was a physical therapist and after watching her help me and some of my fellow dancers recover from injury or prevent minor pains from becoming bigger injuries I was sold!
What is your training background and how long have you been practicing/teaching?
I graduated from the University of Missouri for physical therapy in 2004. I have spent my whole 21 years in practice specializing in orthopedics, sports medicine, performing arts medicine and Pilates.
Who influenced your career path (who have you enjoyed learning from, mentor, etc.)?
I have learned a lot through my career from other talented dance medicine and performing arts practitioners, such as Jackie Haas and Carolyn Crampton here in Cincinnati and the many great PT’s and athletic trainers at the Harkness Center for Performing Arts Medicine in NYC where I have attended dance medicine continuing education courses.
What makes you love your field?
I love my field because of the limitless possibilities. If a treatment or exercise doesn’t seem to be working as expected, there is always another option to try. As PT’s we are stronger as a team, and I love working in an environment where we lean into each other for ideas. I also love watching people become the best version of themselves. No one ever choses to be injured, but often we can help you feel even better and more in tune with your body on the other side of that injury.

INTERESTS/SPECIALITIES

What kind of clients do you love working with?
With my background, I love working with patients with performing arts and Pilates interests, but I also just enjoy meeting new people and working with anyone who genuinely wants to feel better and stay active. Whether it’s getting back to a favorite exercise class, walking with friends, or keeping up with the kids/grandkids/etc, I am excited to be part of that process with you.
What sets you apart?
I am a good listener and encourager. Being injured or not able to participate in life or the activities you love the way you want to is tough, but I will be the one who meet you where you are and encourage you on the road to feeling better. Just ask my kids, I don’t allow “I can’t” to be a part of your vocabulary. Things may be “hard” or “I need help” or even “I can’t yet”, but we can get there together.
What’s your mission?
My mission is to get you back to feeling your best self as quickly as possible and hopefully having fun along the way.

HOBBIES

What brings you joy? What do you do with your spare time?
Things that bring me joy are my family: My husband, four kiddos, my dog and my cat. I also love being outside, taking walks, getting out in nature, cheering my kids on at their various sports activities, reading books, and a glass of good wine.
